Guyana’s Ministry of Public Utilities and Aviation is evaluating bids for about 34 airstrip projects, part of a plan to build or upgrade nearly 60 airstrips across the hinterland and coast. Minister Deodat Indar says the work will improve flight safety, year-round access, and connections to remote communities.
**Why it matters for North American firms:** Tenders for these 34 projects have closed, but the rollout will run for years. Firms in airfield lighting, navigation equipment, engineering, construction materials, and aviation services can position themselves now as suppliers or subcontractors to the winning contractors, or prepare for the next round of roughly 25 airstrips.
